This is the first time we met her. She has a really good bedside manner with lots of smiling and joking around. This was a pleasant surprise and lucky for her because I was seconds from ripping someone's arms off for making us wait an hour and a half past our scheduled appointment. I ran out of reading material really quick while waiting because they had nothing but Lucky, Women's health, and other girly magazines. They did however have a really loud TV in the waiting room blairing advertisements for women's health products disguised as helpful health news and then nothing to look at on the walls but a bunch of pregnant women showing off their bellies (photos were done of course by a local company being promoted by the medical group). This was all a bit much for a wait that long. Lesson learned...next time I will bring my iPod with some good blood and gore action movies loaded and ready to go.
Doc Upadupah (something something - I'll never be able to spell her name) was really nice. She quickly got up-to-date on our infertility history and let us know that the baby wanted us to save the money we aren't going to spend on invitro to put toward his/her first car. Wouldn't want to put that burden anyone with that with the gas prices the way they are. Oh yeah...she conveniently blamed that on me when she found out I work for Chevron.
The doc had this thing called a "doppler" which is this cool gadget that will let you hear the baby's heart beat (if you are wondering...yes they rent them for $30 a month). Turned out 7 weeks was a bit too early to hear the heartbeat.
Our little alien probably looks something like this.

So Tina is doing great. She continues to endure the typical nausea but enjoying the guilt-free naps. Interestingly, her body is now handling twice the volume of blood...this has made her heart flutter a bit every once and awhile but apparently that is normal? I am interested to hear everyone's cures for nausea. Seems to be just like the random cures for the hiccups.

My cure for nausea was to beat the hell out of Lance. Worked everytime! after all.. it was his fault that I was so sick. Just kidding- I wish that I had some good ideas but not much worked for me. Tina.. gets lots of rest and just take a nap when you start feeling yucky. I am so happy to hear about this journey for you guys. love ya

That is so awesome that you two are pregnant. We are about 9 weeks, so I have a pregnancy buddy. I have probably the worst case scenerio of morning sickness...so I know what you are going though...although I am starting to feel a lot better...the more time goes by. Check out my blog too. Again, congrats...hope everything goes well. Erin and Nathan Christopherson
It's all over now with a question like that one, everyone will be more than happy to share their pregnancy stories with you, myself included! Ella is 7 months, now, so we're on the other side, but I still remember. Like most, I, too endured the dreaded nausea, and though not as bad as some, I felt miserable and had to do everything short of packing around the IV box (Joanna had to, BTW,) hope it doesn't get to that for you!! Sometimes I'd just stay as immobile as possible for as late into the day as I could manage without getting fired. Our doc evetually said, eat whatever you can keep down, I don't care if it's starcy, fried, or sugar-packed, just eat whatever will stay down. Rice Chex with super-cold milk usually worked for me. Usually. Enjoy!
Okay....an alien without a heart beat. That would surely cause extreme nausea. My girls cause me nausea and heartburn, and the boys just hung in there quietly very happy for me to eat anything. To this day I can't even look at those heartburn curly fries or anything resembling hair. Think about nausea and heartburn he will be experiencing as well. Especially when you send onions, garlic, or mexican food down. Be sure to let us know when he shows up on the "doppler". We are so excited for you both. Party On!
