2007

Dear Family and Friends,

We were just looking back at our 600 photos from this past year (don’t you just love digital cameras). Here are a few to let you know what we have been up to in 2007. Click below to see a slideshow of the pictures described.

We started out the year by taking a motorcycle safety course and getting our licenses. Tina was the only girl in the class and beat all of the boys (except me of course). After a year in Bakersfield California, we realized that 340+ days of sunshine a year is perfect motorcycle weather. Tina got a hot pink 150cc scooter to zoom around on and Brad a 650cc dual-purpose bike to commute to work and play on the weekends. Mandy, Keith, and the boys came to visit us in January and tried out our new rides. We had a good time hanging out with them and they even let us take them to the local natural history museum to look at rocks and fossils. We also had fun visits from Mom and Joe and Tina’s parents.

We were lucky to be able to visit family in SLC three times this year: skiing in February, a surprise visit for Mother’s day, and during a Chevron geology field class in central Utah in September. The trips were over long weekends so unfortunately we didn’t get a chance to visit with everyone.

Tina worked at the Bakersfield Heart Hospital as a radiology technologist in the cathlab up until September when she traded her scrubs for a computer and a brokerage account to take up day trading. Brad just had his two-year anniversary at Chevron as a production geologist. He will move on to his next assignment as a development geologist to drill lots of wells in February. He is excited most about his new short two-mile commute to work.

Gracie and Lou are great kitties. We have lots of fun with them and Lou has almost doubled in size (now 15lbs) since he came to live with us.

In July, Brad decided to leave the dirt behind and trade his enduro bike for an 883cc Harley Sportster. He likes to ride up into the windy hills behind his field office at lunch.

We snuck away for a Hawaiian vacation in October. We stayed at Waikiki beach on Oahu. Tina’s favorite part of the trip was getting a Fijian tattoo on her face at the Polynesian cultural center and eating lots of Dole-whip pineapple flavored soft serve. Brad’s favorite part was the daylong ride around the island with Tina on a Harley Custom Softail and his first try at surfing.

Tina has been teaching the nine-year old kids at church this year. They keep her on her toes. Brad traveled 6 weeks this year to complete more geology and corporate training in Houston, San Francisco, and Utah.

Looking back at this year, we did a lot of hard work and play. We are slowly settling into our house. We have a guest room so feel free to stop by anytime for a sunny California day.

We miss all of you and wish you a very Merry Christmas and Happy 2008.

Love,
B&T

Drop us a line sometime
